Running the Gauntlet: Adolescents and the Heart of the Global HIV Epidemic

Globally, unsafe sexual behavior is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity among adolescents. In developing countries, risks associated with unsafe sexual behavior rank higher than unsafe water and poor sanitation, second only to being underweight. This lecture will provide information on the current status of the HIV/AIDS epidemic for adolescents and young adults within a global framework and discuss recent efforts in vaccine development, testing, and prevention across the globe.
