Awards and Grants

Each year, SAHM recognizes adolescent health professionals for their commitment to furthering the field and advancing the cause of adolescent health and well-being. SAHM distributes a number of awards to professionals at various stages of their careers. Visit our Awards and Honors section to learn about the various awards distributed each year.

Research Awards 
  • Charles E. Irwin, Jr.  New Investigator Award: Recognizes the highest quality research from an individual in training or someone who has completed their training within the past five calendar years. Finalists and the award winner are chosen from among research presentation submitters at the SAHM annual meeting.
  • Robert H. DuRant Award for Statistical Rigor and Innovation in Adolescent Health Research: The DuRant Award recognizes the abstract submission with the most sophisticated methodology or analytic approach. Abstract review committee members will nominate submissions for the DuRant Award from among research presentations submitted for the annual meeting.
  • Vaughn Rickert Vaccine Research Award: This award recognizes the top-rated abstract submission focused on vaccination research. ​​Finalists and the award winner are chosen from among research presentation submitters at the SAHM annual meeting.
 

Outside Grant Opportunities – Outside organizations may offer research grants or funding opportunities that may be of interest to SAHM’s members and site visitors. This can be found in the Grants and Funding Opportunities section of the site.
