At our spring dinner May 16th in Natick, MA , we hosted the upcoming editor of JAMA, Dr. Howard Bauchner. His talk, “Evidence or eminence, which is better?” on the topic of how to use journals to inform your practice, was well received. We also honored Grace Sterling Stowell, the founder of Boston Area Gay and Lesbian Youth (BAGLY) as the annual recipient of our regional chapter award.
We held our fall conference last year in Manchester, NH on the topic of transitioning youth to adult services. Attendees from as far away as Delaware enjoyed receiving continuing education credits and hearing talks on adolescent brain development, the internist’s perspective on transition, transitioning youth with special health care needs, HPV screening recommendations in the transition age period, cardiovascular risk, managing mental health issues in college students, and vitamin D deficiency, among others.
**Please save the date for our upcoming meeting on adolescent reproductive health November 5, 2011 in Providence, RI.**
