When asked for something from SAHM, respond in a timely manner
Apply for the membership designation: FSAHM
Make a Financial Contribution - one feels more involved/one has a feeling of pride
Be an advocate encouraging others to join SAHM
Participate on SAHM-L - get your name out there; let others know the topics in which you excel
Submit suggestions for Position Papers/Position Statement to the Director of Publications. If suggestion accepted, volunteer to develop policy
Apply for SAHM Awards/Grants
- Apply for Diabetes Award
- Apply for Career Development Awards
- Apply as a site for the Litt Visiting Professor in Adolescent Health Research or the Hofmann Visiting Professor in Adolescent Medicine and Health award recipients (Hofmann applicants must be SAHM members.)
Attend Annual Meetings
Submit a proposal and lead a Workshop/Institute at an Annual Meeting
Become a Special Interest Group Leader
Submit Research/Case Studies for consideration for next Annual Meeting
Participate in Your Regional Chapter (if none in your state/area, start one)

Mentorship

As an organization, SAHM does not mentor - but SAHM facilitates mentoring relationships as part of its Principal Activities through a Mentorship Program facilitated by the Multidisciplinary Membership Committee.

Write a Newsletter Article

You are invited to write and submit articles for the SAHM Newsletter. Editorial Due Dates are:

            April 15th
            July 15th
            October 15th
            January 15th

Articles may be sent electronically to either Kasia Chalko, SAHM National Office, or to Becky O'Brien, SAHM Newsletter Editor.
