Why join SAHM? Answers from a few non-MDs….

Why are you a SAHM member?
I became a SAHM member in the early 80's after completing an adolescent health training program. It was then and remains now a terrific home base from which to keep current with changes in adolescent health, network with colleagues, be stimulated by research and practice innovations and advocate on behalf of adolescents.

How did you come to be a member of SAHM?
I attended one meeting at the request of my mentor and was hooked! At my first meeting I felt valued as professional and I had immediate opportunity to become involved.

Why do you attend SAHM conferences?
As someone who does research with adolescent participants, I think it is vital to be aware of this age group’s physical, emotional and social concerns. At a SAHM conference, besides enjoying time with great colleagues, I can easily learn the “latest” about teenagers. It keeps me in the know.
