Overview
SAHM is committed to enhancing access to high quality health care for adolescents by supporting the training of all health professionals who care for adolescents.
Professionals from a wide variety of disciplines - including medicine, nursing, psychology, public health, social work, nutrition, law and sociology - become specialists in adolescent health by pursuing post-graduate coursework and/or clinical training. Physicians trained in pediatrics, internal medicine or family medicine begin a career in adolescent medicine, a board-certified medical specialty, with fellowship training. SAHM provides an annually updated roster of training opportunities in adolescent medicine and health - accessible by selecting the Fellowships/Training link.
SAHM members help to plan and coordinate professional adolescent health education programs. More information on educational opportunities can be found by selecting the Continuing Ed/Presentations link.
