SAM/MEAD JOHNSON NUTRITIONALS NEW INVESTIGATOR
The major focus of the Society for Adolescent Medicine is
to promote the development, synthesis, and dissemination of
scientific and scholarly knowledge unique to the development
and health care needs of adolescents. The Society has established
the New Investigator Award to recognize professionals who,
through excellence in research, have furthered the Society's
goals.

HOFMANN VISITING PROFESSOR
IN ADOLESCENT MEDICINE AND HEALTH
The SAM Visiting Professor in Adolescent Medicine was established
in 1986 with the first award being given in 1987. The Society
for Adolescent Medicine offers this annual event to provide
an educational experience in Adolescent Medicine for a group
of health care providers who may not otherwise have the opportunity
to benefit from the Professor's expertise. In March 2003,
this award was re-named the Society for Adolescent Medicine/Adele
D. Hofmann Visiting Professor in Adolescent Medicine and Health.
The award is financially supported by Dr. Hofmann's children,
Annie Gardiner and Peter Hofmann.

defined in 1999. This annual award, which is supported through
the Society for Adolescent Medicine Special Programs Fund,

SAM/CARLOTTA SIMONS DIABETES AWARD IN ADOLESCENT
HEALTH
The Society for Adolescent Medicine/Carlottta Simons Diabetes
Award in Adolescent Health was defined in 2000 with the first
award given in 2001. This award is supported through a donation
by a physician deeply committed to adolescent health and well-being.
The award is directed at promoting advances in the health
of young people with diabetes mellitus and their families
through patient-centered service, research, or education.
