ADOL, a service of the Center for Adolescent Studies at Indiana
University, is an electronic directory for professionals,
parents, and teens to information on the Web about a wide
range of adolescent issues including violence, health, mental
health, counselor resources, and information for teens.
American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) Adolescent Health Webpage
ACPM Adolescent Health Webpage addresses outcomes or risk factors from the perspective of the specialty of preventive medicine and across the medical and public health sectors.
Through a cooperative agreement with HRSA’s Office of Adolescent Health, this website focuses on the six major health priorities defined by Healthy People 2010: 1) unintentional injury, 2) violence, 3) mental health, 4) substance use, 5) reproductive health, and 6) nutrition and physical activity.
The website offers bullet-point discussions on each of these six issues, with footnotes, and links to primarily governmental websites addressing the focus areas.
National
Adolescent Health Information Center
The National Adolescent Health Information Center (NAHIC)
is based within the University of California, San Francisco's
Division of Adolescent Medicine, Department of Pediatrics
and Institute for Health Policy Studies. Major activities
of the Center include promoting collaborative relationships
with federal and state agencies, professional and research
organizations, private foundations and advocacy groups; collecting,
analyzing and disseminating analyses of new policies affecting
adolescents; and providing technical assistance, consultation
and continuing education on the needs of adolescents, emphasizing
special populations. The website has a number of papers and
web links concerned with California and national programs
for adolescent preventive services, and development of health
policy, especially for the neediest populations. There are
also checklists and assessment tools for evaluating adolescent
services provided by managed care organizations and S-CHIP
programs, and fact sheets and an HRSA monograph on youth violence.
