Juvenile Justice
The Juvenile Justice Special Interest
Group focuses on solving problems encountered by its members
during the provision of health care to incarcerated adolescents.
A roster of Juvenile Justice Special Interest members is maintained
by the SIG leader.
During the 1997 meeting, some members formed mentor/mentee
relationships in which more experienced providers paired with
those just beginning in the filed. As more university adolescent
programs undertake health care in detention facilities, there
will be a need to provide direction and tips to the newer
programs.
Currently an ad hoc committee from the Juvenile Justice SIG
is developing a SAM position paper regarding health care for
detained juveniles.
Members who are interested in contacting members of this
SIG may call the SIG leader.
