NOAH
New York Online Access to Health (NOAH), a joint project of
the City University of New York, the Metropolitan New York
Library Council, the New York Academy of Medicine and the
New York Public Library, is a broad-based health links site
for consumers. Links to an extensive array of full
text articles have been selected by medical and public library
librarians and assessed as current, relevant, accurate and
unbiased. The section on teen health is under development
but many other links such as on pregnancy, scoliosis, STDs
and acne are relevant for both teens and parents.
IWannaKnow.org
Sponsored by the American Social Health Association, the Iwannaknow.org
web page is specifically designed for teenagers to find answers
to their questions about their bodies, sex, and sexual feelings,
and to provide them with "responsible educational information
in a relaxed, safe, and fun environment." A chat room with
a mentor moderator hosts live chats at weekly intervals. A
search capability leads to related information on the main
ASHA site.
SEX,
ETC.
SEX, ETC. is a teen-oriented newsletter from Rutgers University's
Network for Family Life Education and produced by a teen editorial
board with professional supervision. The newsletter also is
published in a hardcopy edition 3x/yr and distributed free.
(Bulk copies are available to adults who work with teens.)
The current issue is on-line as is a library of other topics,
a Q&A section responding to all those questions teens
want answers to but are reluctant to ask, and a recommended
reading list. Some of the subjects covered include relationships;
sexual decision making; abstinence; condoms and birth control
(with limited detail as to precise use); drugs, alcohol and
tobacco; gay and lesbian teens; pregnancy; and violence and
abuse. The message is uncensored, nonjudgmental, and unbiased.

Canada, this site provides information to teens on a wide
variety of reproductive health topics including healthy sexuality,
sexual orientation, STDs, pregnancy, women's health, men's
health, and sexual assault. Also contains chat Q&A
from teens.
TeenWire
Sponsored by Planned Parenthood Federation of America, this
site provides teens with uncensored and unbiased sexuality
and sexual health information. This is drawn from both PPFA's
own resources and from material submitted by teen peers (after
review by PPFA). Teen site visitors also are encouraged to
ask their own questions and to contribute their opinions and
ideas. Some of the issues covered include changing bodies,
choosing abstinence, protecting against sexually transmitted
infections, preventing pregnancy, and establishing relationships.
