Introducing Two New SAHM Headquarters Staff Members

 
In 2020, two new staff members joined the SAHM headquarters team. We are happy to introduce, Jennie Shaw, MPH, and Nakeshia Betsill.
 
Jennie Shaw, MPH
SAHM Operations Director
Jennie Shaw joined the SAHM team in 2020 oversees SAHM’s membership recruitment and retention efforts. She is developing programs to help keep members engaged with SAHM’s many programs, and to attract new members by highlighting the value of those programs to members. She works closely with Executive Director Ryan Norton and Membership Services Manager Nakeshia Betsill. She has a strong background in the health care association sphere.
 
Previously Jennie was a Senior Program Manager at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), where she focused on patient safety bundle implementation, facility standard development, and issues in professional liability and practice management. She also has experience in higher education department management, primary care office coordination, and began her career in association management at the American Telehealth Association (ATA), where she coordinated special interest group activities and annual and mid-year meeting programming.
 
Jennie received her Master of Public Health, with a concentration in Health Management and Policy, from the Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health.
 
Nakeshia Betsill
SAHM Membership Services Manager
Nakeshia Betsill is SAHM’s membership services manager. Her focus is on membership marketing and assisting members with their dues. She also works in coordinating advocacy efforts, assists the Director of Publications with the PEB and BOD review processes as well as the member submission processes. She works with the Nominations Committee chair on SAHM’s Election and assists members with access and voting. She will be working with the Diversity Committee and Chapter Presidents moving forward.

Before joining the SAHM team, Nakeshia served as the Director of Volunteer and Advocacy programs for the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, Inc. (MGFA). She has worked closely with local and national community leaders on engagement strategies to build a robust volunteer, patient resource and patient advocacy network. Nakeshia identifies and navigates complex community challenges and skilled at relationship cultivation and management; to include community capacity building, volunteer recruitment and leadership training.
 
Nakeshia worked in the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs where she served as the Manager of Volunteer Programs and Corporate Events at NYC’s largest creative reuse center to support the arts, public schools and cultural organizations. Nakeshia worked closely with community leaders and volunteers to design professional development courses for teachers, organize field trips for K-12 students and secure in-school residencies.
 
Nakeshia attended Virginia Commonwealth University and received her B.S. in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations.
