The Confidentiality Resources for Adolescents and Young Adults are online resources aimed specifically at adolescents and young adults.  Health care providers and youth serving professionals can offer these additional resources or print the PDF one-page reference sheet to adolescents and young adults looking for additional information, including online resources, support groups, peer networks, helplines, treatment locators, and advocacy opportunities.

  • American Civil Liberties Union: The ACLU defends minors’ rights to confidential health care. Reference cards for minors are available for many of the state level ACLU chapters.
  • Bedsider: Providing accurate and honest information, this online birth control support network provides articles about insurance privacy settings and discrete birth control options.
  • Center for Disease Control and Prevention: The CDC has a wealth of information for teenagers including descriptions of teen-friendly health visits that respect confidentiality and privacy policies.
  • Guttmacher Institute: The Guttmacher Institute advances sexual and reproductive health and provides adolescents resources including a State Center with the regulations and policies concerning confidentiality laws for each state.
  • Healthy Teen Network: This website offers guidance for teens about access to confidential contraceptive services.
  • Your Body, Your Rights: Powered by the American Civil Liberties Union of PA, this website offers guidance to minors who want to learn about their right to health care and mental health services.
