Publication: State Policies in Brief: Minors’ Access to STI Services

Over the past 30 years, states have expanded minors’ authority to consent to health care, including care related to sexual activity. All 50 states and DC allow most minors to consent to testing and treatment for STIs. Many states, however, allow physicians to inform parents that the minor is seeking or receiving STI services when they deem it in the best interests of the minor.  This publication is updated monthly.

Mobile App: Mobile Resources and Tools

These tools allow access to federally approved HIV/AIDS treatment and research information optimized for mobile devices and are offered free of charge. The HIV/AIDS Glossary app is currently available for both Apple and Android devices and includes terms in both Spanish and English.

Training Tool: Online STD Case Series
National Network of STD/HIV Prevention Training Centers and the CDC
This case series is designed for practicing clinicians who diagnose, treat and manage patients with, or at risk for, STDs. The series includes case presentations of common STD-related syndromes with a guided, interactive process to evaluate each case, arrive at a diagnosis and provide recommended treatment. The cases are free of charge, and CE is available. (Cases are available for a range of ages.)

The goal of the AHRQ-funded project, Youth Providers 2.0 (YP2.0), is to improve the use of evidence-based practices among health care providers caring for adolescents and young adults. To accomplish this goal, SAHM will engage in a number of activities using new media to improve the dissemination of patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) to health professionals.
